On Tuesday morning, December 30, 2008, a 911 emergency call was received by Kentcenter - House Fire at 834 Bloomfield Dr- Houston, DE. The Harrington and Houston Fire Companies were dispatched to the scene, followed later by the Carlisle Fire Company from Milford. Chief Bobby Scott, Incident Commander, Houston Fire Company arrived on scene to find smoke billowing from the residence. While Firefighters were searching the house to find the area of the fire, something very unfortunate happened. Harrington Assistant Chief Robbie Brode fell through the floor and into the basement of the burning structure. A very frightening scene for his colleagues but teamwork became the utmost importance. Working together, they very courageously saved this young man's life and he escaped with some burns, bruises, and a dislocated right shoulder.
