Donald Deputy

W. Donald Deputy Jr., Felton, passed away suddenly on Thursday, September 2, 2021, at the Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, he was 62.  Donald was born in Milford, DE to the late, Wilbert Donald Deputy Sr. and Janet Melvin.

Donald worked as a superintendent for the Sandtown Landfill.  It was during that time he worked over 30 years with George & Lynch, and he had also worked as a dispatcher for the Dover Police Department.

Donald loved spending time with his family, especially spoiling his grandkids.  One of his favorite things to do was to go camping.  As a dedicated fireman, he enjoyed visiting other fire companies whenever he was traveling out of state.  Hobbies included antiquing, gardening, hunting with friends and family, and going to NASCAR races.  He was a dedicated Cowboys fan and always looked forward to having coffee with the "coffee club" who met at the firehouse.  Donald was well loved by all that knew him.  He never met a stranger, and knew people everywhere he went.  He will be greatly missed.

Donald was a dedicated life member of the Felton Community Fire Company, where he previously served in many capacities, including Treasurer and Chief Engineer.  He was affectionately known as Trout around the firehouse.

In addition to his mother Janet Melvin (James), Donald is survived by his wife of 37 years, Robin Deputy; son, Ryan Deputy; daughters, Jordan Schulties (Greg), Lauren Deputy (Ian Smith); siblings, Wayne Rawding (Denise), Virginia Deputy, Carl Deputy (Patty), Jane Mutter (Dave), Clifton Deputy (Andrea); and 2 grandchildren, Avery and Colton Schulties.
