Lilley Mae Sherwood Tatman


Mrs. Mae Tatman, 65, of Viola, died suddenly of a heart attack yesterday morning, April 16, 1958, in the Kent General Hospital. She is the widow of George Tatman who died 13 years ago. She was born June 3, 1893, the daughter of Daniel Rodney Sherwood and Ida Mae Matthews Sherwood. She was a member of the Viola United Methodist Church. Mrs. Tatman is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Nelson Lockwood, Viola; one son, Clifton W. Tatman, Stowe, Pa.; three sisters, Mrs. Anna (Dewey) Shahan, Magnolia; Mrs. Pearl (Owen) Shannon, Newport, Del., and Mrs. Leatha (Harvey) Pleasanton, Dover. Four brothers; Sam, Rover, Homer, and Herbert Sherwood, all of Felton; two step-children, Mrs. Frederick Yerder, Pottstown, Pa., and Mrs. Ina Moss, Wilmington. Seven grandchildren also survive. Interment was in Barratt’s Chapel Cemetery, Frederica. Mae was a charter member of the Felton Community Fire Company Auxiliary. Her daughter, Catherine Lockwood (with whom she lived) was a life member of the auxiliary. Mae’s brothers, Wilbert Sr. and Sam Sherwood were both charter members of the FCFC. Her sister-in-law, Blanche Sherwood was a charter member and sister-in-law, Louise Benard Sherwood, was a member of the auxiliary.
