Helmets and Heels - Station 48

Felton Community Fire Company’s Second Annual Helmets & Heels, was held Saturday, May 7th, 2011. The night consisted of raffles, shopping, live auction, great food by our Auxiliary members, and plenty of frozen margaritas. But the night would not have been a success without our Celebrity Dance Auction. There were 10 gentlemen auctioned off for a dance to the highest bidder. With the help from our Auctioneer, Herb Kenton, the celebrities preceded to show the audience their dancing abilities, then the bidding began. They were fantastic! The Dance Auction raised over $ 1400 alone. After the celebrities danced with their highest bidder, DJ G.R. Myers rocked the fire house and the ladies danced the night away. We had 16 vendors this year who help underwrite this event by donating many of their items for our raffles and auction. Several of our community members also made donations to our event. From some of these items we had a special “Pink Raffle”. This raffle also benefited the American Cancer Society. The fire company has made a donation to them in the amount of $500. Not only are we raising money for our cause but we feel we should also give back to our community. The shopping spree raffle collected over 100 boxes of cereal for our local food pantry. The donations for this raffle were in memory of family members of the sponsors. Many thanks go out to everyone who participated as a member, vendor, sponsor and/or celebrity. Next year’s event will be earlier in the year on Saturday, March 10, 2012.
