Eugene T. Tucker “Tucker”

FELTON – Eugene T. Tucker “Tucker” of Felton, Delaware passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 6, 2017.  

He was born on December 12, 1962 in Dover, Delaware, the son of the late Paul and Delsie Tucker. He resided in Smyrna, Delaware for most of his life and graduated from Smyrna High School.

After graduation, he began his career in the Smyrna Police Department as a Dispatcher. And he also worked for the Harrington Police Department part-time as a Dispatcher. In 1990, Tucker started working at Kent County Department of Public Safety, Emergency Communications Division as a Dispatcher for over 25 years.

He was a Lifetime Member of Smyrna Fire Department and a member of the Felton Community Fire Company.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his identical twin brother, H. Thomas Tucker; and his special K-9 kids, Ariel, Tiller, Squirt and Max.

He is survived by his loving wife of over 23 years, Donna; his sister-in-law, Marsha Jester and her husband, Billy; his niece, Carrie Strachar and her husband, Joe; great nieces, Stephanie and Emily Strachar; and great nephew, Zachary Strachar, all of Harrington, DE. He is also survived by his cat, “Buddy Ho”; a host of brothers from the Citizens Hose Fire Co., Station 44; very dear friend, Colleen Wessell; his close family friend, Maureen “Moe” Maddock; and the many other lives he touched thru the many years as a dispatcher.

Tucker joined the Felton Community Fire Company in June of 1993.  In 1994, he was awarded an Outstanding Service Award for his Memorial Day weekend effort in reviving a heart attack victim who stopped breathing.  That same year, he was honored awards for the most ambulance and fire alarms attended. In 1995, Tucker was elected Ambulance Captain.  For a number of years he served as Public Relations for the fire company.  Often you would see “Tiller”, his canine pet who was known as the fire company’s mascot, at many events and “on call” at Station 48.  Tiller was known by most of the children of the community for his role in fire prevention.  Tiller passed away at the age of 11 in 2003. Tucker’s wife, Donna, was previously a member of the FCFC Auxiliary.  Tucker’s sister-in-law, Marsha Jester, is a Life Member of the FCFC Auxiliary.  His brother-in-law, Billy Jester is a Life Member of FCFC.
